The OPN Companion Application, developed by Opticon, is a companion application designed for downloading barcode data from Opticon OPN-2001 series barcode scanners. Currently available in version 2.22, with one version listed in the catalog, the software falls within the device management and data collection utilities category. It retrieves scanned barcode data from Opticon barcode scanners operating in OPN-2001 mode or running the OPN-2001 simulation application, and it supports a range of compatible devices including the OPN-2001, OPN-2006, OPN-2500, OPN-6000, and PX-20. This broad compatibility makes it suitable for environments where multiple scanner models are deployed and centralized data handling is required. The application supports CMA and CMT docking stations, commonly referred to as multicradles, as well as the direct connection of multiple scanners to a PC, giving users flexibility in how devices are managed at scale. Both manual and automatic operation modes are available, allowing workflows to be adapted to different operational preferences, from hands-on data retrieval to unattended synchronization. Beyond basic data download, the OPN Companion Application provides a comprehensive set of device management features. Scanned barcodes can be downloaded, formatted, or deleted as needed, and devices can be reset to factory defaults when reconfiguration or redeployment is necessary. Operational settings can also be adjusted directly through the software, including symbologies, beeper behavior, memory handling, and LED settings.
